Brainwave Music Lab
Aino Unkila and Marko Alastalo make site-specific video and photo performances in abandoned urban buildings of different European cities. The performances explore disused urban places and the social and local history embedded in them. Concepts arising from the process include fragility, transience, cycles and forgetting.
Brainwave Music Lab, founded by Marko Alastalo, is a series of cross-disciplinary inter-active performance concepts that are based on the audience’s and the artist’s neural impulses and other biophysical processes. These processes are made perceptible using digital media. The projects typically involve several people from the fields of performing and visual arts, as well as experts in psychology and brain research.
